Making

This little pile of wool is what is left of a weekend of fun woolly frolicking!  I have made two felted wool Kinder Bags, for Nora-Who-Is-Four, and her little brother Wee Finn who is already  running about wildly.  I can just see the little guy now, toddling about collectin’ stuff in his wee blue bag. How adorable that should be.

Truth is, these are just the beginning of the second wave of hand-made gifts I’ve made, as the first wave is already gone with the post to far-off lands, as I was in such a rush and didn’t get a chance to photograph.  That’s me, just here,  a delirious maker-of-things … casting on , then off, then on…. forever in a frenzy of gift-making. Will it end? So far there’s no sign of it!

How are you all doing with your hand-made gifts?

Gift Making

jenjoycedesign©blue cowlAnother cowl of the design I am working on for gifts.  The cowl would normally get a steam press just to help open up all that lacework, but since the fuzzy mohair is knitted in I decided against it.

There are three yarns held together for this blue cowl,  yarns from this post here.

I also am reworking these…

Tartan & Tweed Mitts which I am busy making several different ones so that in the new year I will be updating the pattern to include more weights of yarn and size ranges. These are made from some Cascade Sport Superwash which was gift yarn from Carol (hello & thank you Carol… xx 🙂 )

Oh , the joys of hand-made gifts. I can never get over it… the high I feel when I am finished with yet another. The pile is growing quite a bit, and thankfully I still have 12 days to make. Everyone, how are you doing with your hand-made gifts?

Another  two pairs of pin-striped fingerless mits !

Aren’t they lovely ?

These are for  Molly & Maya, belated xmas presents.

For some reason, I can’t capture the colors very well with the camera .

These are a  medium greyish slate blue with marine blue stripes . . .

And these are a deep plum with royal purple stripes . . .

I think that five pairs of pin-striped fingerless mits are enough for me for a time, but since I knit them all almost entirely while walking the mountain, I’m not sure if I might not cast on for another pair .  I mean, I fear I might trip without something to knit !

🙂

But for now I’m going down off the mountain into town to ship these mits in the mail, and then feel my feathers fluff up with a sense of satisfaction of a job done ! I find it difficult to believe that all the Christmas knitting is behind me now. I went for my walk this morning , and,  nothing to knit while walking along !  It was surreal.
