Blue beckons. It calls to me, and it says ” Hey you who has avoided me for so long, I know you’re secretly in love with me ! ” So I am. What to do? I bought blue yarn yesterday from town, I mean really blue yarn , and I have it propped up on the top of the loft wall, so as I pass by it, I can’t help but to see it and think ‘ what on earth … that is buh-looo ! ‘ Here it is, a single skein of Malabrigo Yarn (from N.Uruguay, which makes me happy) …lace weight, 100% Merino wool, and in color “marine”. It is variegated from medium to really deep indigo tones. Blue is so Me now. It is my mood and my desire, it is a field of linen flax at dusk, it is eyes of a new lover that I can’t resist, it is a soothing drink of color that quenches my thirst while all around me fields of grass are as dry and white as parchment. This beautiful yarn cake of lace weight is not going to be made into anything remotely lacy or frilly or superfluous. It shall be old-fashioned and practical. Casting on . . .
i like practical, malabrigo makes the most stunning blues.
love the tiny little stripe sweater too, it’s so cute!
Aw thanks so much Lori ! 🙂 xx
Can’t wait to see what you’re casting on! X
Hello Kelly , I assure you , since it is an impulse buy of yarn, it must be a low-priority project , and likely won’t be back on Yarnings for some time. I must start my nieces Autumn sweaters !!!! Omg… I’m late getting started…
I also love blues, but all shades of it! What are you up to now??????
Well the first thing Carol that I am up to (if you’ll notice, I added a hyper link to my local yarnshop) … is shopping at a real store. I was given a gift certificate from a friend , and there you have it… pure wreckless impulse buying for quite some time. 🙂 I have wanted to try some crazy fine knitting for some time… so next thing to impulse by at LYS is double or triple “0” needles. 🙂 xx
You are breaking all your usual patterns- isn’t it fun! Your brain just shifts into other gears and all sorts of possibility open up. I can not wait to see your new table it sounds wonderful. I am just finishing a very chunky wild scarf from a pattern by Stephen West called Filbert. I almost never knit with chunky yarn, but it was a direct opposite of all the baby knitting I’ve been doing. Quite different.
I’ve been in a blue mood for a couple years. Yarns – teals, turquoise, blues, purples, blue-greens, and I love it! Right now I’m knitting a variegated turquoise to deep blue with some brownish green in it to keep it from being too turqy, shawl. Its lace in a shell repeat design. Have you heard of Dream in Color? Its one of theirs. And, I just finished spray painting a wicker chair and table set in Bahama Sea, a teal color, that just pops out in my beachy white bedroom. I may live in the desert now, but I was born near the Great Lakes of Michigan and my taste in colors show it. Fall – I love autumn colors. I just love color! Though my room is white wicker furniture with the exception of the new “blue” furniture, and white sheers, and white walls……… and white….. and white……. so the accents are grand! I’m so with you on blues. And that is one gorgeous blue skein of yarn you have there, lady! 🙂
I would love to see all this from your world ! Ever think of blogging, just for friends? 🙂 I love wicker !!! You have your needles full of work , which is good !
I think if I did blog, it would be just for friends. I have a fear that I wouldn’t have anything to say! lol. I’d get ideas, and then start The Real Thing, and go absolutely blank. I like reading your blog! I love to read blogs, I’ll have to think about that. 🙂 Needles are busy, but mostly I knit lace. I need a change of pace, and I think stripes are a good start. Not sure where, but as soon as this shawl is done, I’ll probably start the mitts. I haven’t knitted two colors before…….. so that will be a “growing experience”. And the mitts are so cute!
