cast on . . .

At last, I have cast on! Three hours before an obligatory Christmas party, knowing that without my knitting I will languish surrounded by people I don’t know, so a quick knitting project would give me much company, and save me from being a grumpy wall flower. But what to knit? I don’t want to cast on for yet another pair of socks that would very likely be forgotten as one-sock forever in a drawer, and I have been in the mood to knit with the set of birch straight needles I got over a year ago, so it is now decided, I have begun the actual knitting phase of my Summer Fields project that I’ve already put so much work into. I have not knit for over six months now, so my hands are purring, and ideas are flowing and so . . . maybe a new design? First a kahve, to stir my imagination, and I’ll finish the ribbing. . .

    More summer-fields sounds perfect.
We are heading into a terror!
Last summer’s bushfires were 3kilometres away from my humpy.
    Very close!
A summer fields knit sounds perfect

    • Karin . . . hello!!! It is so good to have you peek in and give me perspective about the world, the seasons at opposite ends of the world, and of course, sharing our unhinged selves as the wildfires burn past. Gaw… what do we do… just grab some knitting needles I guess , and bear down. XX

      • Exactly!!!! You gorgeous woman!
I have been running and running and running…
So lovely to have the courage to drop in and stop!
        And say hello
I have done such a lot of work at the Ghost-town but I am constantly preparing to lose it.
You know how hard this is.

        • You and me both babe, hard hard work on defensible space and trying (in vain??) to get the upper hand with nature. Who are we kidding. But you know what? As bad as my arthritis is bothering me, I’m working harder than ever in my life it seems, bonfiring in the rain season, hauling huge chunks of dead trees (which are falling over continually) … branches, etc . . offerings that in hope there will be just that much less to burn out of control in the fire season. I mean , what are we going to do? xx

    • Regina, so glad you asked! Well, this is a thing of real change for me, and yet tradition in my life because it will be knitted as my mother would have knit it. Hopefully I will not do too poorly, and it may turn out well as a pieced knitted cardigan! I hope you’re enjoying your December! xx.

I'd love to hear what you have to say...
